PM approves appointment of new defence secretary

Lt-Gen(retd) Alam Khattak replaces Lt-Gen(retd) Asif Yasin Malik as new defence secretary

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the appointment of incoming Defence Secretary Lt-Gen(retd) Alam Khattak  on Monday, Express News reported. 

The previous defence secretary, Asif Yasin Malik, had a two-year contract, which ended on July 28, after which a new defence secretary was appointed.

Khattak is expected to assume his responsibilities as the new defence secretary within a few days.

The Prime Minister is trying to militarise his cabinet and very soon he will have the entire team of ministers from the military, retainng only Prime Minister position for himself. Why not if Pakistan democratic system allows appointment of ministers who were not elected by the people.
