The previous defence secretary, Asif Yasin Malik, had a two-year contract, which ended on July 28, after which a new defence secretary was appointed.
Khattak is expected to assume his responsibilities as the new defence secretary within a few days.

The Prime Minister is trying to militarise his cabinet and very soon he will have the entire team of ministers from the military, retainng only Prime Minister position for himself. Why not if Pakistan democratic system allows appointment of ministers who were not elected by the people.

@KhanPTI: In Pak Army, pathans and Punjabis have same quota as per population. There is no discrimination except in jokes. Till we donot have 22 provinces, Pak will face such problems.

Pathans are working at good posts in all government depts in Pakistan .. and just like you said, players like Imran Khan & Afridi receive more love from all Pakistanis than players from other provinces.. stop crying foul and discriminationg yourself, just to get attention.
@KhanPTI I could only laugh at your comment. I have met many Pukhtoons in my life and i have many friends as well and they are ones who always discriminate on the basis of color and racism. Punjab is most diverse and welcoming but unfortunately many people are blind from this fact. The term "Daal Khor" is used by every Pushtoon friend for every Dark Non Pushtoon person especially for Karachites and Punjabis. Even your comment states that you are proud on the blood of your race and that is a discrimination as well. Unfortunately many people who follow Imran Khan are not following him for his agenda but for the same stupid stupid Race and ethnic following. That is why in Mianwali and Attock regions PTI used the slogan "Kehta Har Pukhtoon hai Imran hamara Khoun Hai" to get the votes on the basis of color and race.
