Gunned down: Former councillor shot dead

A former councillor from Lyari was killed near Cheel Chowk on Friday. The deceased was identified as 50-year-old Abdul Khaliq, son of Muhammad Usman.


The police said that he was shot dead by unidentified men on a motorcycle near Cheel Chowk within the limits of the Kalakot police station. He was shot at multiple times and died on the spot. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi for the autopsy and was handed over to the family later for the burial. The deceased was associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party and was the former union council councillor of Lyari.


Police officials said that the deceased was also a former employee of K-Electric.


No case was registered till the filing of this report.
