QUETTA:

Police gunned down a man and wounded another on Monday for their suspected involvement in the execution-style killing of eight poultry workers in Balochistan’s Lasbela district.

The two suspects were engaged in an encounter with policemen a few kilometres away from the crime scene during a search operation – at Ramzan Marri Goth near Sakran area of Lasbela district.

Earlier police had mounted an operation to track down the culprits, who had abducted 11 labourers on Sunday morning and killed eight of them after confirming their ethnicity.

The suspect, who died during gunfight, was identified as Abdul Sattar, while the injured, who is now under police custody, was identified as Nadir.

The Express Tribune made several unsuccessful attempts to reach Lasbela’s District Police Officer (DPO) Bashir Ahmed Bravi by phone and even left him a text message but received no response.
