SWABI:

Neurosurgeon Dr Abdul Aziz, who was kidnapped last month, was recovered by the district police on Monday.

Talking to journalists, District Police Officer (DPO) Abdur Rasheed Khan said that Dr Aziz was abducted by armed men when he was on his way to Abbottabad from his private clinic in Adina village on Oct 25.

The DPO added that his relatives did not register an FIR, but police traced him through a computerised sticker on his car which was left abandoned near Bilal Masjid on Mardan-Swabi Road.

DPO Rasheed further said that DSP Investigations Nisar Muhammad along with his police force, raided several areas, forcing the kidnappers to flee and leave the surgeon behind.

Dr Aziz said that the kidnappers blindfolded him and escaped after leaving him in a room in the middle of an empty plot.  He then untied himself and went in search of the police.

He announced a reward of Rs0.3 million for the police officials who managed to release him from custody without paying ransom.
